Bio

Virginia Lee Story is a dedicated professional with extensive litigation and mediation experience with 39 years of practicing law. Virginia graduated from David Lipscomb University in 1981 and enrolled in law school the following fall at the Nashville School of Law. Virginia received her Jurs Doctorate in 1985 and immediately passed the bar exam and proceeded to open her practice in Franklin, Tennessee. Virginia and her family quickly fell in love with Franklin and called it their name. The growth in Williamson County and the greater Middle Tennessee area brought her best friend and law partner, Joanie Abernathy, to the Franklin practice in 1987 and from there the two of them have grown their law practice together. The downtown historical Trial Lawyers building houses distinguished attorney’s practice in multiple areas of the law and has two locations. The first is across from the Franklin Courthouse in Historic Downtown Franklin on 136 4th Ave South, and the second satellite location is in the Franklin neighborhood of Berry Farms, called the Mediation Center.

Virginia is a dedicated family law attorney providing both compassion and strength to her clients through her 39 years of practice experience. Virginia has been a Rule 31 Listed Family Mediator since 2001 and has served on the Rule 31 Commission for Mediators for two terms. This knowledge of the Mediation structure in Tennessee has been invaluable to Virginia. She understands what works in Mediation and what does not. In addition to her service as a Commissioner with the Alternative Dispute Resolution, she has served as an Officer in the Williamson County Bar Association, as a Member of the Tennessee Bar Association, and as a Member of the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association. Virginia is active in the John Marshall American Inns of Court and uses her experience to mentor attorneys. Her practice area consists of all facets of Family Law which include Divorces, Post-divorce matters, Wills & Estates, Probate, and various Juvenile Court matters.

Virginia is Nationally Ranked as a Top 10 Attorney with the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys, as well as Top 100 Trial Lawyer in America. She has been consistently named as one of the Best Lawyers in America, Best Lawyers in Tennessee and Super Lawyer listing beginning in the year 2005.
